Why are you here? – This is the first of the many questions the two ‘lieutenants’ posted on a dais, exchange with one another. They are elementary questions, pertaining to even more plain exchanges. Yet, at a closer look, as it is the case here, crevasses would split open on their safe every-day surface, plunging suddenly in the whirlwind of radical doubt.
The two figures are ‘lieutenants’ because they guard the location where they are posted, a symbol of perseverance about the task of defending the logic of their thinking.
All revolves around a single driving force: the creation of questions, unfulfilled by temporary answers, including those provided by religion, though it is the science of the definitive.
The skeptical and mournful character of the dialogue ebbs into a sea of comic that leaves disoriented.
