HAMLET di Lenz Rifrazioni Teatro Farnese - Parma May 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29 2012 (May 26th off) Ten years ago, Maria Federica Maestri and Francesco Pititto, were climbing the Pellegrino “enchanted mountain” outside of Parma; they were looking for some unexplored paths to give a new turn to their own work. They couldn't have imagined then that what they had started with some of the hosts of the Rehabilitation Therapy Center would have become such a humanly and artistically extraordinary experience, and such a very unique one in Europe. Hamlet staged by Lenz Rifrazioni and directed by Maria Federica Maestri and Francesco Pititto is so unique that after being such a successful event at the Rossi Rocca of San Secondo (2010) and at the Reggia of Colorno (2011), it is now coming to Teatro Farnese of Parma with all its artistic monumentality and its emotional depth from May 23rd to May 29th (9.00 pm; May 26th off ). This project has been made possible thanks to the collaboration with the Department of Historical, Artistic and Demo-ethno-anthropological Heritage of Parma and Piacenza (Soprintendenza per il Patrimonio Storico, Artistico e Demoetnoantropologico di Parma e Piacenza), and the support of the Mental Health and Addiction Department AUSL of Parma and Emilia-Romagna Region, Provincia di Parma, Comune di Parma, Fondazione Monte di Parma, Camera di Commercio. The structural asymmetry of the text in Hamlet and its perfect dramaturgic unbalance really fit in with the psychic asymmetry of the actors who play their parts inside a personal act of emotional re-writing. Hamlet is the result of a long and solid artistic work experience between Lenz Rifrazioni and Parma Health Department (Dipartimento di Salute Mentale dell’Ausl di Parma) that has been going on since 2000, but also of what has always been the focus of Lenz’ theatrical research.
Liliana Bertè, Franck Berzieri, Giovanni Carnevale, Guglielmo Gazzelli, Paolo Maccini, Luigi Moia, Delfina Rivieri, Vincenzo Salemi, Elena Varoli, Barbara Voghera are the “sensitive” actors who are the protagonists of this tragic and poetic fresco on human life. They are not interpreters but transducers of strength, bodies of painful poetry and imperfect beauty, who within the art dimension, recite Shakespeare’s words in this exponential oscillation between losing and regaining meaning. Hamlet will unveil its many scenes inside the most beautiful Baroque theatre in the world, following the meanders of a complex spatial and mental labyrinth - Palazzo della Pilotta, Galleria Nazionale, Teatro Farnese - refraction of the multiple facets of the contemporary Hamlet-dilemma. Hamlet at Teatro Farnese will become through it all - Shakespeare’s text, illness, madness, reclusion, fragility turning into expressive strength, old age, forbearance towards life and theatre -, an amazing event of cultural innovation and social sensitivity, past and contemporary history, human heritage and performing art, a unicum that will tie together the historical and dramaturgic monument with the human monument; exaltation of a beauty to rediscover.
