acido del pentimento, da parte a parte;

lo porto all’incudine eterna della speranza,

e lo affilo e lo appuntisco in un coltello;

In search of the breath which throws the word into the fullness in front of him, the actor suspends himself – shocked – in the vacuum which the word will create. A word which starts in the stomach, rising silent to the vocal chords, enemy to the brain, a word which looks for an escape through the pores of the skin. When is it formed? When does it take shape? Inside, outside? “Here you stay and without sound (lautlos).” When the whole body descends into the other world, the true one which is theatre, it emerges nice and clean, sacred and pure, shameless and correct. Like Valère Novarina says, the actor is female. Only the female body can develop a word which has the colours of birth at its utterance. Only the eyes of a woman can bring to the gaze the fury of Penthesilea, the lethal rhythm of an Amazon. For man all that is left is to pretend, in the truth of the body on stage, of not being a leper, of being a soldier, of being a hero. Kleist asked a woman to help bring an end to pretence.
