Poliantea

Anthology of Poetic Writing by Pier Luigi Bacchini

The scenic translation of the works of the great poet from Parma, carried out by Francesco Pititto, artistic director of Lenz Rifrazioni, over the last twelve years, has found perfect completion in the new production created in collaboration with the Municipality of Parma. Mise en parole for a quartet of actresses, with Elisa Orlandini, Sandra Soncini, Valentina Barbarini and Sabina Borelli, is a tribute to the poetry of Pier Luigi Bacchini, a nationally and internationally recognized author and winner, in 2005, of the Sant'Ilario Prize.

Introduction

Polyanthea. From the Greek polyánthea – rich in flowers – a perfect title for an anthology of Pier Luigi Bacchini's poetic writing. An incessant discourse with Nature, the landscape, the scents, the men and women as belonging to a Whole that once also included the Gods, in search of the deep, original signs that are still perceived, smelled and sometimes seen through the echo of the song of Orpheus which calls together the elements of the world. Its a collection of florivers that rhythms a time that includes everything – life, eros, the metamorphosis of bodies, death already arrived and that which will come again like life - in a motion as light as a circle in the water.

Francesco Pititto: «Twelve years of poetic body. Over the last twelve years I have translated Pier Luigi Bacchini's poetic works into various modes of scenic representation. I have practiced different ways of creating the sound and body of Bacchini's verses: for actress and author, for quartet of actresses with author, for musician, actor and author, for actresses and off-voice, for solo actress. Each mise en parole has established with the place of occurrence (mise en site) a cross-fading relationship between bodies, voices, sounds and the poetic landscape. The annual event was organized by selecting his works according to a dramaturgy of the bodies that, from time to time, became his poetry in situ. In his verses nature and science arise, die and rise again, the gods are present in the smallest human molecules and theatres are living landscapes in which births, deaths and divine projections alternate.»
