“Paziente è colui che tollera, che sopporta senza
lamento le avversità, il dolore ma è anche colui che
soffre di una malattia e per questa è curato, è elemento
passivo dell’azione di un altro. Avversità, dolore,
malattia elementi costanti della contemporaneità, della vita
umana e perciò dell’arte, della necessità espressiva
di rappresentarne la forma, le figure e i contorni per contenerne
la forza mortificante e tragica. Il lavoro paziente dell’artista
avviene fianco a fianco del paziente/uomo al lavoro della propria
sopportazione. L’arte è per necessità paziente
come Giobbe perché concreta e, come l’uomo, mortale”.
Patient is he who bears, who tolerates adversity and pain without
lament, but so is he who suffers from an illness and is treated
for it, the passive recipient of the action of another. Adversity,
pain, illness are constant factors of contemporary reality, of human
life and therefore of art, of the need to express and represent
its form, figures and outlines in order to contain its mortifying
and tragic force. The patient work of the artist is done side by
side with the work of the patient/man as he learns endurance. Art
is of necessity patient like Job because it is concrete and, like
man, mortal.
